Ashley Whitters is a Customer Solutions Coordinator in the Labels – Retail Packaging Division at our Richmond, BC branch. In the seven years she’s been with the Great Little Box Company/ Ideon Packaging (GLBC) team, she’s learned everything there is to know about corrugated and labels. We’re grateful for Ashley’s quick mind and warm heart, which elevates the customer care each and every day.

How long have you worked in customer service?
The entire time I’ve been with GLBC and prior to that. Basically, I’ve worked in customer service since I was 16 and got my first job!
Why did you choose to end up in customer service?
I like helping people. I appreciate the social interaction that you have in a job like this. When I can help people find the product they are looking for, it just feels good.
What are your keys to success?
Patience. The ability to understand different personalities. Not everyone is going to mirror your personality, right? You must adapt to who you are working with, whether that’s a customer or a teammate.
What interests you most about your job?
I love the fact that every day is different. I mean, the job stays the same, but every day or week will always bring you something different, whether that’s a new challenge or a new person to get to know.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
At the end of the day, you’re helping people get what they need. That could be information, a product, something to help their business grow—or probably all three! It feels good to give someone what they need.
What advice would you give yourself 15 years ago about customer service?
Once again, patience is key. And try to be kind to everyone!
What is your favourite memory of the company?
My favourite memories are from the year before COVID. They’re from all the gatherings and events that brought everyone together. I feel extremely lucky to have met some of the people I call my best and closest friends at GLBC.
