November Culture Roundup

It’s time for our November Culture Roundup! From awards to birthday parties to Christmas preparation, we’ve had a busy month here at GLBC. Here’s a look at what our team has been up to in November!

BC CEO Awards 2014

Our President and CEO Robert Meggy was honoured at Business in Vancouver’s BC CEO Awards 2014. Robert is a huge part of our amazing company culture here at GLBC and this award was well deserved! Congrats again, Robert!

Maureen’s birthday

Our Admin team celebrated Maureen Jang’s birthday on November 6th with a cake. Happy birthday, Maureen!

Christmas shopping for the children of GLBC

Between vacation, award acceptance, and his numerous other responsibilities and obligations, our President still makes shopping for the children of Great little Box Company a priority. Now that’s a great way to spread some holiday cheer!

Victoria Royals vs. Kelowna Rockets Hockey Game

The GLBC staff went to cheer on the Victoria Royals and Kelowna rockets at their hockey game earlier this month. We’re guessing our Kelowna branch enjoyed the results more than our Victoria branch, but fun was definitely had by all! We love a little friendly intercompany rivalry.

Movember

Here’s a look at our moustaches from mid-November, although you might have to zoom in on some! ;) We have raised $655 towards prostate cancer, and there are still a couple days left in the month to reach our goal of $700! GLBC will be matching the donations at the end of the month.

Here are some health facts around Movember:

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in Canada and the second most common cancer among men in the US
  • 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
  • It is estimated over 23,600 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014.  The number is even greater in the US, over 233,000 will be diagnosed in 2014
  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-35
