We make the choices and investments we need to allow us to continue to be an industry leader for environmental causes. We are continuously improving our environmental management systems for more efficient performance.
- 4,000+ plants filtering up to 80,000 pounds of pollutants out of the air each year.
- Use of primarily water based non-toxic inks, sending all waste back to the supplier for recycling.
- Prime parking spots allocated to staff that carpool to work.
- Installation of Electric vehicle charging stations with prime parking spots
- Extensive staff recycling program including composting.
- Reduced internal paper usage in scheduling department by using electronic scheduling and automated work orders.
- “Quick” doors in maintenance and shipping areas to reduce heat loss and consumption.
- 2016 purchase of The Lion by Heger Recycling, a foam compactor that uses innovative technology to compress bulky foam waste into easy-to-manage foam blocks. This results in considerable savings not only in transport and disposal costs but also in waste reduction, diverting 100% of foam scrap from the landfill.
- Invested approximately $150,000 in an overhead scrap removal system to efficiently and effectively collect and bundle corrugated box scraps for recycling. This program recycles over 70 tons per month from our plant, which equates to 2,849 trees per year.
- Electric forklifts equipped with wireless laptops, thus reducing greenhouse gases and paper consumption.
